How do I configure my internet settings for Windows 95/98?
To configure internet settings for your computer:
- RIGHT CLICK your mouse on Network Neighbourhood Icon on your desktop.
- Then LEFT CLICK on Properties.
- In the window under the CONFIGURATION tab, you should see at least the following:
THE FOLLOWING NETWORK COMPONENTS ARE INSTALLED:
- A computer icon and client for Microsoft Networks (This is a Client)
- A green icon and the name of your Network Adapter (Card) ( This is an Adapter)
- A Cable icon and TCP/IP -> and the NAME of your Network Adapter (Card) (This is a Protocol)
If these icons are not shown:
- LEFT CLICK the ADD button.
- Select the component you require and click ADD and follow the instructions provided by your computer.
- LEFT CLICK OK.
Once you have the above components installed, you can begin the following procedure.
Your computer must have an Ethernet card installed, with appropriate drivers.
- Next connect the CABLE MODEM to your computer's Ethernet card using the CAT 5 cable supplied with the installation.
- Go to the Network Neighbourhood and RIGHT CLICK.
- Go to PROPERTIES and LEFT CLICK.
- Scroll down to TCP/IP (for your Ethernet Card name) LEFT CLICK to select it.
- LEFT CLICK on PROPERTIES.
- Select AUTOMATICALLY OBTAIN A IP ADDRESS.
- You must Restart your computer at this time.
